This final section starts from Bothwell Parish Church with its ancient links to Kentigern and the Cathedral. At the
church cross the road and turn left into Station Road. A short distance on the right enter the Nature Trail and follow
left to a flight of steps leading onto Blantyre Road. Turn left on the road and descend to the River and to the
Clyde Walkway at the pedestrian bridge. (A short deviation over the bridge leads to the site of the Blantyre Mill
and the David Livingston Birthplace.) Keep on the right bank of the river to reach the spectacular remains of
the historically important Bothwell Castle.
Beyond the castle the path crosses the river at the Green Bridge and follows a series of paths on
the south side of the Clyde as far as Cambuslang where it crosses back to the right (northern) bank and follows
the river all the way into Glasgow Green with its Peoples Palace Museum and Victorian Winter Gardens.
Continue through the park to exit onto the Saltmarket. You now find yourself in the most ancient part of the
city and on the route that originally linked a fishing village situated on the banks of the river with Kentigern's
monastic cell on the hill above - the present-day site of Glasgow Cathedral. Turn right up through the Saltmarket,
past the Trongate and Tollbooth Steeple. Continue up the High Street and Castle
Street past Provand's Lordship to reach your
final objective Glasgow Cathedral
and the Crypt of St Kentigern.
